A woman who was a commercial sex worker lied sick in bed, having been diagnosed with the much dreaded HIV disease. While she retrospects about her life, she suddenly screamed out and asked herself: “Who will ever love me for me and not for what he could get from me? She soliloquized thus: “My mother wanted me to be a good girl so that I would not be a disgrace to her in the society; my father wanted me to become a medical doctor so that I would make him a proud man among his friends. Men were sleeping with me so that they could satisfy their sexual urge. Now I am tired of life and myself. I did not even love myself otherwise I would not have been giving out my body to just any man all for the sake of money. It was not that I love the job in itself, but I needed the money to survive. I had to make loose ends meet but in the attempt to do it in my own way, look at the end result. I have hurt myself and destroyed my life.  I have dug my own grave with my own hands and I’m about to enter into it. Who will ever love me truly enough to help me out of this mess without making a further demand on my life? “

Then a voice whispered quietly behind her saying: “I have always loved you for who you are. I am willing to help in spite of your shortcomings if only you will allow me. All you need to do is ask me for forgiveness of all your wrong-doings, I will clean you up and you will experience a new life.”

She asked the voice: Who is speaking? The voice answered: “I am a friend. The friend to the friendless, the husband of the widow. I am the only hope you have. I am the ultimate husband. Men might have touched your body; I am the only one who can touch your soul. You may be weeping right now but know it that I am the only one who can wipe your tears away.”

On hearing this, she came down from her bed and knelt down immediately to do what the voice had advised her. She prayed earnestly to the voice thus: “My only hope, forgive me of all my sins. Lover of my soul, save me. I repent of my wrong-doings and turn from my wicked and evil ways towards you. Cleanse me. Restorers of life, restore me. The great healer, heal me and make me whole and I will love you forever.

On the following morning, the doctor came round to check her body’s reaction to the drugs given to her. He was taken aback to discover that there was no longer any symptom of the HIV in her body again. Her body had begun to shine like that of a new born baby, her flesh had been healed and her beauty had been restored. The doctor questioned what she did to herself overnight and she narrated her experience with the voice. She was later discharged from the hospital and she stopped forthwith the business of prostitution.

She proclaimed this message from that voice to her friends in the old profession. Some of them listened and embraced it and forsook the evil old way and their lives turned for the better like her own.

My friend, is there any impossibility with God? Even if this woman was not healed, her restoration to her creator which is the most important step has given her better reasons for living. So no matter how far you have gone in sin against him, all you need to do is repent. He is ever ready to forgive you, cleanse you and make you whole again. Just invite Him into your life today and He will enter there in Jesus name.
