REPORT OF THE FOR GIRLS ONLY PROGRAMME {F.G.O} HELD IN THE MONTH OF APRIL TO JUNE AT AGEGE ZONE, ALIMOSHO ZONE AND IFAKO/IJAIYE ZONE OF EDUCATION DISTRICT I, LAGOS STATE.
Each workshop started at 9.00a.m with the registration of the girls and at 10.00am, the workshop commenced with an opening prayer. The courses for the workshop are as follow: HIV/ AIDS; causes & prevention Sexual Abuse, its causes and prevention. Personal Hygiene Power of Choice Etiquette
ATTENDANCE: An attendance of one thousand, five hundred and eighty-three students (1, 583), and fifty-two (52) teachers was recorded from a total number of the thirty (30) schools in attendance. The participating schools include the following;
Government Junior College, State Junior High School, Girls Junior High School, Iloro Junior Grammar School, Government College Senior, Abibat Mogaji Millennium Senior School, Lagos Baptist Senior School, Girls Senior High School, Dairy Farm Senior Secondary School, State Senior High School, Community Junior Grammar School, Igando Community Junior School, Community Senior Grammar School, Oke-Odo Junior Grammar School, Lagos State Junior Model College, Meiran Community Junior, Meiran Community Senior, Prowess Nursery & Primary School, State Junior High School, Alimosho Junior Grammar School, Olorunisola Community Junior High School, Millennium Senior Secondary School, Igando Senior Secondary School, Egan Senior Secondary School, Government Technical School, Sasa Senior Secondary School, Ijegun Senior Secondary School, Oke Odo Senior High School, Vetland Senior Grammar School, Vetland Junior Grammar School
FEEDBACK: We had a question and answer section where the students asked questions on the topics they were taught, and the facilitators answered them. The feedback was great and impressing, we also got phone calls from the students commending our effort and receiving counseling on pressing issues.
SOUVENIRS: We gave jotters, pens & FGO newsletters to the students and jotters & FGO newsletter to some of their counselors and teachers in attendance. We also gave mini-books & posters on HIV/AIDS and Student’s Success Manual book to the counseling unit of each school in attendance.
REFRESHMENT: There was provision made for biscuits and water for the students and teachers in attendance. They were served and felt happy at having a nice time at the workshop.
SPONSORSHIP: The programme was sponsored by The Real Woman Foundation with the sum of N374, 370.
CHALLENGES: The challenges we had were with the distance of the venue from our location, we encountered traffic on our way which brought a little delay in our starting time at some of the venue and we were not positively welcome by Millenium Senior Secondary School Egbeda’s Principal which caused a lot of disorganization and delay in starting our program at the school premises.
